MARATHON DES SABLES
2006

Hello,

My name is David Salisbury and I am entered in
this year's "Marathon des Sables". For those of you
that have not heard of this event here is what it entails:

I will be running a 151 mile endurance race over the course of 6 days. To ensure that I don't get bored, the event will be taking place across the Sahara Desert in temperatures of 120°F! So that I do not want for anything whilst on this little venture I shall be carrying all my food and equipment needed for this on my back! For more details on the MdS please click on the link to the right.

You are probably wondering why I have put myself forward for this. Well, the answer is 2 fold. Firstly, I plan to raise money for The Macmillan Cancer Relief Charity. The work that these people do makes a real difference to the lives of people living with cancer, from providing specialist health care and information to practical and emotional support. To put it bluntly the work and effort these very special people do every day of the year makes my adventure above seem like a walk in the park. So, if you are in a position to make a donation please click on the link to the right. Thank you.

Oh yes, and secondly, I am a complete nutter!

The preparation for this, as you can imagine is pretty intense and the correct training plan and support is essential. I have been lucky enough to be supported by Esporta Health and Fitness in Chislehurst. They not only have fully equipped facilities but extremely knowledgeable and approachable staff. This has made my training as structured, progressive and challenging as I could have hoped it to be.
Should you wish to enquire about their facilities, the link to the right will take you directly to their web site. I highly recommend it!!
